MWC Huron Day 1 am

Seventy nine teams headed out on Lake Erie this morning in search of a five fish limit of big walleye. The morning started out cool and clear with very little wind. Almost everyone was hoping the lake would stay flat until they reached their destination, then have the winds pick up and put a nice chop on the water. As the teams left the Huron River, they headed both east and west.

aaDSC_4322.jpgPredictions are that the winning team will be fishing towards the east. It seems that bigger fish have come from there while prefishing, but the bite is not as consistent. Almost everyone agrees that it will take at least 80 pounds for two days to win the tournament. Many reports of 40+ pound bags prefishing have the teams excited.

Most teams are pulling spinners off inline boards but a few teams were seen to have stickbaits rigged and ready. If the water stays calm, those running harnesses will be pulling them around 1mph or less. When the waves pick up, they have been speeding up to the 2mph area.

Weigh in will begin at 4:00 at the Huron Launch. Following the weigh in there will be a "Kids Clinic". The anglers will show the youth how to rig up the new rods that will be given to them for free. Stop by, bring the kids and root for your favorite teams.
