Cabela's MWC headed to Winnebago

By all indications, this weekend's MWC tournament should be a great one. The weather forecast is for sun,high temps in the 80's to 90's and light winds. Reports are the fish have been cooperating the last couple of days now that the storms have passed. The final count for teams is 134. That means the first place team will win $18,300. A very nice payday.

Fishermen have been catching walleye jigging, pulling cranks and spinners, bottom bouncing, Lindy rigging, and probably more ways I haven't heard. It sounds like spinner rigs and jigs have been doing the best from those I've spoken with. As always, versatility will be key in putting together a heavy bag two days in a row.

One big complaint is the bugs. If there is no or little wind, apparently the bugs are driving the fishermen crazy. Everyone seems to have their own solution to combating them but I have never found anything to totally keep them away. Even a small breeze will help keep them away.

There is a rules meeting thursday evening. At least one member from each team must be present. The registration for non premier teams begins at 4:30, premier teams at 5:30. The meeting will start at 6:00. The meeting is at the Oshkosh Convention Center located at 2 North Main Street.

Friday morning, the flight one teams will take off at 7:00am and need to be back at 3:00pm. Flight two will take off at 7:15 and need to be back at 4:00. On saturday, the take off order will be reversed. Site location is Menominee Park- Miller's bay

After friday's weigh in, there will be a "kids clinic". In addition to tips given by the pros, the first 50 children will recieve a free rod/reel combo.
