Port Clinton FLW Day 3 am

The top ten pros and top ten coanglers took off this morning under clear skies and a beautiful sunrise. Even though they are competing for a top prize of up to $63,000, the pros were joking with each other while they were waiting for takeoff. The coanglers mostly sat quietly in the boats, waiting for the fishing, or should I say, catching, to begin. Everyone seemed very confident and planned on making no changes to the programs they have used the last two days.

aaDSC_4103.JPGIt appears that most pros are using similar techniques. Pulling spinners seems to be the method used by the majority, if not all. As far as what colors and blade sizes, that information will remain known only to the pros until after the weigh in. Snap weights and bottom bouncers are both being used to get the harnesses down to the preferred depths. Inline planer boards are being used to get the baits out to the sides of the boats.

Shortly after the pros and coanglers took off, more tournament boats arrived. These boats will be used to take members of our National Guard out for a day of fishing. The pros donate their time and equipment to show these men and women just how much they are appreciated.

The forecast for today is mostly sunny, winds out of the southwest at 10-12 mph, and a chance of afternoon showers or thunderstorms. Hopefully, if the forecast is correct, the rain will hold off until after the awards ceremony.

Today's weigh in, starting at 4:00, will take place at the Walmart at 2826 East Harbor Road, Port Clinton.
