As rain filled clouds drifted off to the north, much warmer winds blew in from the south exposing blue bird skies, for the second day of the FLW Walleye Tour on Cass Lake in Minnesota's beautiful north woods.
Cheerful competitors were all smiles this morning, and mentioned again how miserable it was to fish in the weather that they experienced yesterday. Everyone was looking forward to a better day of fishing today.
A look at today's weather:
A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 74. South wind between 10 and 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph
With winds down considerably from yesterday, most competitors feel confident they will have an easier time controlling the boat and in turn catch more fish. This afternoon's weigh in should show an increase in the number of fish caught today.

Boat control is key on this lake, said the Butter Boy, Eric Olson. The structure is straight up and down there are no gradual break lines here. The wind made it really tough yesterday. It looks like today is going to be a much better day.
It was really tough the wind and waves made the boat control a lot tougher yesterday, said Rick LaCourse. At
one point I made a move to a more protected area. One of the guys that was fishing near me in the morning told me that as soon as I left my spot the fish turned on, and he caught a 25 incher that's just my luck, he said shaking his head.
David Kolb, who is representing FLW Sponsor Prilosec this year, had this to say about his chances of duplicating yesterday's fantastic basket that weighed in at 14 pounds 1 ounce, landing him in the number 6 position going out today.
It would be a little bit lucky if I did. I got a couple of good fish yesterday. You need a couple of good ones. That's what it takes to get 14 pounds again. I haven't caught two that good all week, so hopefully I can do it again a little luck will go a long way.
Co Angler Success Story:
Each year the FM Walleye club raffles off a FLW Co Angler Entry. Funds are used for youth fishing programs. Last year Larry Williams of Fargo won the ticket and ended up taking the first prize at the Devils Lake event. This year, 300 tickets were sold, and Josh Johnson of Fargo won the FLW entry, and he is in first place after day 1. Just goes to show you giving to a good cause can often pay you back when you least expect it!
All the competitors fish three days, of the four day event, and the top ten left standing after day 3 will advance on to fish on day 4. Cheer on your favorite Pros and Co Anglers this afternoon as we continue the coverage for the FLW Walleye Tour at Cass Lake, MN here on Walleye Central.
The weigh in festivities will resume at 3PM Central Time.
If you're in the area, and would like to come see it live the weigh in is taking place at Stoney Point Resort, in Cass Lake, MN.
The weigh in will be moved over to the Wal*Mart in Bemidji on day 4 (Saturday), and will begin at 4PM.
